Leonay Public School Chaplain Recognized for Outstanding Achievement
Philip Irvine, School Chaplain at Leonay Public School, has been honoured with the Principal Network Award for Exceptional Service as School Administrative and Support Staff for 2022.
Philip has been an invaluable member of the Leonay Public School community since 2020, providing a caring support network for all stakeholders, including staff, students, and parents. His efforts were particularly appreciated during the Covid lockdowns in 2021, when he regularly checked in on families and provided support and information in the school newsletter.
In addition to his role as School Chaplain, Philip has also initiated the Leonay Listeners Program at the school, which trains Year 6 students in strategies to support younger students in the playground. He has also been trained in the Rock and Water program, which helps students develop self-awareness and self-confidence, and has implemented this program in consultation with one of the Assistant Principals.
Philip is actively involved with Strategic Direction 2 of the SIP - Wellbeing Practices at Leonay Public School, and has played a key role in the review and development of the school's Wellbeing framework. He also delivers weekly Scripture lessons to the students.
We are so proud of Philip and his dedication to supporting the students, staff, and families at Leonay Public School. Congratulations on this well-deserved award!
