Shannon's role as School Chaplain cannot be understated or overlooked. His sincere dedication, resilience and compassion for the school community have been vital in upholding Bennett Road Public School's motto, 'Move to Success'. As School Chaplain, Shannon seeks out all opportunities to assist individual and whole stage student welfare, support staff wellbeing both inside and outside the classroom setting, connect outside agency services with local families and engage regularly with members of the Colyton neighbourhood. His calm and warm demenour, along with a good natured sense of humour, create a safe environment for staff, students and families to build strong bridges of trust and cooperation. Bennett Road Public School is indebted to Shannon's unwavering committment in his role as School Chaplain, we are extremely lucky to have him as part of our school community and we thank him for everything he does daily.
"I just do not know how to thank you. My children and I would have gone without food and be homeless without your timely support. In my culture, when we don’t know how to say thanks, we just say – may God bless you a lot. And that is what I want to tell you."
“We really like seeing you because you are someone we can talk to and vent without being judged”
Our chaplain is absolutely amazing! She has become an integral and valued member of our school and she wears so many hats....helping students both academically and socially, being someone they can talk to, running social skills programs such as Drumbeat and Leadership groups, joining in games at break times- the list is endless! The students know she is there to help them wherever she can- and they love her for it!
